Trinetra Tours Reviews
London

Great service, delightful and knowledgeable guides
Trinetra organised a tour of the north of India for a family group of eight of us - four from New Zealand and four from the UK. It was a special trip as my mother-in-law, at 87 years young, wanted to show us some of the places she’d known as a child. She grew il up in Shimla and Delhi before Partition. With some parameters set by her Trinetra organised everything - hotels, transfers and transport and local guides in each city. We stayed in Delhi, Agra, Amritsar and Shimla. And the NZ group went on to the South (Mumbai, Goa and elsewhere). We found Trinetra to be a fantastic company and would definitely use them again (we are likely to do a trip in the south at some point). Each of the guides was different - but all were helpful, polite and knowledgeable. We saw some amazing monuments: India Gate and the Parliament buildings in Delhi with a great trip around the old market (Chandni Chowk) by bicycle rickshaw and the grand mosque “Jama Masjid”. Gandhi’s tomb was extremely moving. We even fitted in a marvellous lunch at the Imperial Hotel - a very fancy 5-star place dating back to the beginning of the 20th century. Delhi was full of smog (time of year) but that didn’t lessen our enjoyment. If you’re ever in Delhi I’d thoroughly recommend the restaurant at the Hotel Palace Heights - “Zaffran”. Their “Gobi Dum Dar” - cauliflower cooked in a clay pot - is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten! In Agra we saw the wonders of the Taj Mahal by night and by day. Breathtaking. We saw a brilliant show at the theatre, depicting the story of Shah Jahan and his wife Mumtaz. Great fun. But - a really memorable visit for me - which Trinetra recommended - was to “Sheroes Hangout” - a really inspirational experience. Women who have been victims of acid attacks are building their confidence, and rebuilding their lives by working together in a café project. Great food and wonderful people. Amritsar - and especially the Golden Palace - was fantastic. Our Trinetra guide in Amritsar, Amit, was both informative and great fun with an enormous personality. Again - the thing here that ‘made’ the trip for us was not actually the Golden Palace (though that was truly awesome!) but a day with a Punjabi family on a farm seeing the threshing of the basmati rice, eating home cooked pakoras and meeting the family. Shimla was the pinnacle of the trip. The guide was hugely knowledgeable and had even written a boot about the ‘Toy Railway’ that winds its way up into the mountain tops. Sumit Raj Vashisht was our inestimable guide. A very interesting and stimulating man. So a fabulous trip. Trinetra did us really proud. A business that knows how to treat its customers well.
