An adventure - road trip from Kashmir (Srinagar) to Ladakh (Leh)!
This is my second trip with Trinetra Tours and I could not recommend a more professional & special tour operator in India! A road journey from Srinagar to Leh is certainly the way to go, to truly experience the changing landscape and everything in between such as the beautiful villages, diversity of culture, people and food! Some highlights are the Thajiwas Glacier, Sangam Point, Kargil War Memorial, Ridzon Monastery and Nunnery, Hemis & Thicksey Monastries amongst others. All the hotels were of a high standard. The houseboat in Kashmir had a special feel to it & was in a nice quite location away from the noise and crowds. Rah Villas (Sonmarg) had great hospitalityservice and food. The Kargil was a beautiful hotel overall with lovely meals. The most outstanding was the Stone Hedge (Nubra Valley). I particularly enjoyed the beautiful fire place in the room! And the delicious traditional Ladakhi breakfast dishes served outside on the patio (near the restaurant) with beautiful mountains views. The Singee Palace in Leh is in a great location as it is right next to the market and not far from the Airport. Guides & Drivers Kashmir - I would recommend Hamid (Guide) and Arshad (Driver) any day to any guest! Hamid was keen to please and made efforts to do some extra walking around in the mountains as he learnt that I liked trekking (as a beginner). It was very enjoyable! Driving swiftly and safely, Arshad ensured we got to Kargil on the day (after an initial hiccup)! Ladakh - Outstanding is how hard working, patient and resilient Tundup (MikeGuide) and Sikander (Driver) are. They both worked really hard to get us through some unseasonal snow via the Khardung La Pass to Nubra Valley. When we had a bit of extra time after finishing our activities for the day early in Leh, Tundup (Mike) spent some extra time showing me around the surrounding areas of the Leh Palace). I would certainly recommend both Tundup (Mike) and Sikander any day to any guest. They’re both very competent and obliging! Special thanks to Tapas Banerjee – who helped plan my trip and was only ever a message away for any kind of help or assistance needed (especially with me travelling on my own this time). Also, thanks to Mahendra Pal and all of the Trinetra Family and the associated local operators (including guides and drivers) for this wonderful journey!
